Sour Candy Fall
Eating sour candy offers several benefits beyond its tangy, flavorful punch. The sharp taste can stimulate saliva production, which helps keep the mouth moist and supports oral health. Sour candy can also provide a quick burst of energy through its sugar content, making it a popular choice for a quick pick-me-up. Additionally, the intense flavor can awaken the senses and improve mood, offering a fun and enjoyable experience. While moderation is key to avoid potential dental issues, sour candy can be a delightful treat that invigorates both taste buds and spirits.
I’ve tried to quit smoking, countless times. Usually unsuccessfully. During these short stints of abstinence, I’ve found that a sour, chewy mouthful of gelatin is the perfect substitute - though it surely doesn’t replace the consuming buzz from a gas station bought electronic cigarette. This chewy, overwhelming sensation replaces the dopamine craving and gives my hands something to repeatedly pick up and put down. Sure, the calories will hurt. My lungs are hurting more.
My favorite strain of sour candy right now are the “Super Sour Scandinavian Swimmers” from Trader Joe’s. Perfectly sour, sugar coated and tangy but with the benefit that maybe the ingredients aren’t as bad as we assume? I’m sure they are, but we assume that Trader Joe’s uses fewer carcinogens than a Vons or Krogers product, right? All different shapes and sizes and flavors. My favorite are the red sea stars. You HAVE to try them. One day they’ll sell bags with just the red stars - mark my words.
